couldde-stabilise plate tectonics as well the stability of the dam site.If he
can quantify-then he can go build remedial factors into Dam’s design Taking the
example of the Koyna earthquake in 1967 Dr. Madhyasthastated that earthquake
was a direct product of impact on the platetectonics due to large scale water
impounding in the Koyna dam whichhas been time and again established with
scientific facts.Explaining if the large scale water impounding could have any
effecton the marine life Dr. Madhyastha said the elite panel he representedhad
advised that 20 percent of the water should be allowed to flow inthe course of
the river- 20% of incoming to reservoir- means on an
hourly/daily/weekly/monthly/yearly basis? If yearly-100% is going out anyway
.and this percentage should be higher for thoserivers merging with the sea .
Some specific tasks like maintaining thesalinity at a healthy level as well as
supply nutrients to the marineecosystem.

security to everybody certain decisions had to be taken with thehelp of policy
backing. Channeling impoundment construction of aquaducts and inter basin

develop water sources by variousmethods including the arrest of the salt water
intrusion in coastal areas.Dr. Madhyastha also warned against the danger of
drilling bore wellsindiscriminately as they are an intrusion into the natural
