Mr Saikia A string media offers a solution in a weak politician-statesman scenario. Our politicians are meek, mostly busy with their own self and family. Ruling party members are not allowed to speak by the high command. Opposition is too fragmented and weak. I think in another 10 years a strong Assamese media in Delhi will defend the rights of Assam. Now there are more than 100 young colts joining the ranks of the media. Inn another decade they will become senior journos, whose writings will have bearings. BTW, this is all because of own efforts of our boys with pen, which is a by-product of the mushrooming growth of newspapers in Assam in the 80-90s. There are a few senior journalists in Delhi from Assam, who never helped these young boys getting a media foothold. Bengali media dominates national papers and they protect the rights and interests of WB with impunity.
Talking of rights, we are just hopeless onlookers, when doles are distributed like 'bapoti xahon'. I don't know what our powerful trio of Fakruddin-DKB-Moinul doing when Indian Institute of Petroleum was established in Dehradun, only qualification of that place was probably, Mr. MM Malviya came from there. Now also Govt. of India is distributing IITs, IIMs, IISERs (Indian Institute Scientific & Educational Research) of and these have gone to non NER states. We will need another Assam agitation to get something like IISERs in the state. If we miss on this round, wait will be fo ranother decade. Recently an ordnance factory was announced in Amethi and a Petroleum University was declared foe Rae Bareilly. Assam being a Federal state had all right to have at least one of th 44 ordnance factories; also being the second oldest petroleum producing place in the world, all petroleum related institutes of higher learning should have come there. But not a single sound byte anywhere against such injustice. Actually its a big fish small fish syndrome. I come from Dhemaji in Assam and Assam neglects my area, the way India neglects Assam. Recently Assam declared setting up of a series of institutes of higher learning in the states. All the big political bigwigs seem to have got the booty divided among their constituencies. Since Dhemaji has no big leader, it remains as poor as ever in all parameters, and its share in institutes has not come. So many concerned people wrote to me. My suggestion to them was, form a pressure group and give ultimatum to Assam govt. Fight for your rights. As Jahnuda said other day.. *we must get what we deserve*..fight, blackmail (say otherwise we'll demand Ut status or join Arunachal). ..:) *Life is like that. Wish we had our fair shares without a fight. TO THAT LAND OF JUSTICE LET MY COUNTRY MARCH. -MKD * On Thu, Mar 6, 2008 at 5:09 AM, Saikia, Hrishikesh IN BLR SISL < [EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > mistake is on ur part too.media walo ko bilake ( asomiya pratidin..n .. > ), sabki pungi baja dena tha. > > > > > -----Original Message----- > From: DR BIKASH KUMAR DAS [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: Wednesday, March 05, 2008 3:19 PM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; [email protected] > Subject: Re: [Assam] Nagas need to be saved; Naga regiment > > Dear Umesh, > Now you got it.Thanks my dear friend. This is what I was expecting from > your studies.Yes- Nagas are betrayed like we assamese.Govt of > India,IB,RAW is the machine behing to spoil Nagaland till this > moment. And the Delhi dirty game spoiled entire NE region.Otherwise Nagas > was not to invade Assam or Manipur at all. They speak the language called > nagamese, Mixture of Naga-Hindi-Assamese.Till 1970's there was no > tensions. > Its Sad to have Naga Regt out of the region. But there is also > pilitics. In my earlier mail I noted about existance of more Naga/Mizo > Army officers/IPS/IAS etc.Now none. Not a single. They showed bravery and > the result to them was Court Martial and dismiss from service!!
