“BTC and Dispur’s report to NHRC on Adivasis eviction in November 2010” Guwahati: Asian Centre for Human Rights (ACHR) has the pleasure to invite journalists/media persons to its press conference for the release of its “Response to the report of the Bodoland Territorial Council and the Government of Assam to the NHRC on forcible eviction of the Adivasis from the Langsung area in October and November 2010”. The National Human Rights Commission of India has registered the complaint (No. 297/3/11/2010) filed by Asian Centre for Human Rights against the forcible eviction of the Adivasis from the Langsung area on 30-31 October 2010 and again on 22 November 2010. In response to the notice of the NHRC, the Bodoland Territorial Council and the Forest Department of Assam submitted its reply. In the press conference, ACHR will release its comments to the lies of the BTC and the Assam government. The Press Conference will be held at 13:00 hrs (1 pm) sharp on 29 April 2011 (Friday) at Guwahati Press Club, Ambari, Guwahati. The press conference will be addressed by Mr Suhas Chakma, Director of Asian Centre for Human Rights and editor of the report.
