*Mumbai Mantra | Sundance Institute Screenwriters Lab to be held in India
in March 2012! Submissions Open.*

Here?s an incredible opportunity for all aspiring scriptwriters.* Mumbai
Mantra Media Limited* has collaborated with *Sundance Institute*, founded by
*Robert Redford*, to organize the *first Screenwriter?s Lab in India *which
will be entirely modelled on the Sundance Lab which is held in Park City,
Utah every year.

In the past, Sundance Institute has supported projects like *Quentin
Tarantino?s Reservoir Dogs, Walter Salles? Central Station, Kimberly
Peirce?s Boys Don?t Cry*, and *Joshua Marston?s Maria Full of Grace*, among
many others. This initiative fulfills the Mumbai Mantra's desire to help
Indian storytellers achieve their fullest potential and assist them to
develop stories that resonate to a larger audience in India and
internationally.

The Lab (planned in March 2012) will be a *5-day workshop* that will give
the Indian screenwriters an opportunity to work intensively on their script
with Creative Advisors, who would be established screenwriters and
filmmakers from around the world. Scripts could be in any Indian language
including English. However, the application for the Lab will only be
accepted in English. The applications are open till *June 1* and after this
the screenwriters will have atleast 3 more months to send in their complete
script. Only 6-8 screenwriters will be selected for this workshop. Please
note that there is no submission/ registration fee involved in this.
Application details and a detailed FAQ is available on *www.mumbaimantra.com

The National Law School & Judicial Academy, Assam (NLSJAA) promises
to be an
exciting new development in the field of legal education
 in North Eastern India.
The institution is in the process of setting up its
premises at Amingaon near Guwahati - a city dating back to over a
thousand years, and
also boasting a rich legal heritage ? not only is the
Gauhati High Court situated
here, but also some of the finest lawyers and judges of
the country trace their
roots back to this city. Nevertheless,
the functions of the institute have already started
from its temporary office at Ujan Bazar, Guwahati, and
all the necessary arrangements are being made for commencement
of its first academic session from August 2011.

The NLSJAA will promote and make available modern judicial
education and
research facilities to students and scholars from North East
India as well as other
states of the country, representing a diverse range of
socio-economic, ethnic, religious
and cultural backgrounds. It is expected that in the years
to come, students from
different states of the region with diverse backgrounds will
join NLSJAA, thereby
                underscoring its truly national character.

            Campus
The permanent campus is being constructed at Agiyathuri, on the
Northern bank of
the mighty Brahmaputra. It is located in close proximity to the L
 G B International
Airport, the Gauhati University and the IIT, Guwahati. The
campus will be fully
equipped to create a vibrant learning environment. At present
the institution is
        functioning from a temporary
office at Uzan Bazar, Guwahati with a handful of staff during
the initial phase
of establishment. Classes in graduation level are expected to
commence from ? August 2011. For this purpuse, a temporary campus is
being set up at NEJOTI (North
East Judicial Officers' Training Institute) campus in Ulubari
area of Guwahati which can easily accomodate 60 students in
class as well
as hostels. Necessary facilities like Library, Faculty Common
Room etc. are being set up in the same campus.

The institution is expected to move to its permanent location at
Amingaon (Agiathuri)
        in about two years' time.

Friends of Majuli - A new Facebook Group.

Majuli is a wonder of nature. Situated in the midst of the mighty
Brahmaputra river, it is one of the largest river islands in the world. It
is populated by different colourful communities, majority of whom abide by
the tenets of Saint Srimanta Sankaradeva. He had set his feet in the land
mass of Majuli in 1522 AD and stayed there till 1539 AD. The great 'Sattra'
institution, founded by him has flourished in this river island till today.
They have preserved and nourished the Vaishnavite culture with enthusiasm.
In fact Majuli is a nerve centre of Assamese culture.

This great island is facing a crisis of existence as Brahmaputra is eroding
it regularly. So we all need to put our hands together to preserve it for
posterity. In the past the Government of India submitted proposals to
UNESCO, requesting that Majuli be listed for special status under the
"cultural landscape" category. The UN body has in turn asked the Indian
authorities to provide additional information about the Sattras and the
risk-preparedness strategy, outlining how it planned to save the island.

This year India is trying once again to get Majuli listed in the World
Heritage Site and the Archaeological Survey of India is preparing the
nomination dossier with wide consultations and complete information. [

<http://www.hindu.com/2011/03/14/stories%202011031462822000.htm> ].

As this project is very near to our heart this group is established as an
effort to mobilise people globally to support that cause.

Please come and join "Friends of Majuli".
