Good to hear from you, Jayanta.
I totally agree with you about the political
'dhanda' of most every organization nowadays - even from our days, that was the
case.
Hope it does. These 4 problems:
"improvement of
roads,
drainages,
water-supply schemes,
and
solution to the problems of
artificial flood in the city"
are the main problems of the common people. And I
think the common people (like us) are desperate, so whenever they see these
common problems are mentioned they go for it - regardless of who is calling for
it.
Do you think, if the Assam government was not on
the brink of being bankrupt, would have fixed these problems? I hear the current
DC is really an honest man. May be he will do something - take it to the upper
level to our honest chief minister - I am ignoring the news paper clippings that
I just read. I wonder what is happening to the central funds that "Assam
secured Rs 293.16 crore (about 20 per cent) of the total release for the region
during the four year period" (Rs 1,444-cr Central
funds for NE: http://www.assamtribune.com/). I know
C'da would love to comment on this. :)
I think the feelings of moral obligations of some
(like the junior engineers, 'thikadar's - made of the young people from our
common people only) of our own folks will have to be changed.
I read some stories in the newspapers, about some
local youths in the flood-inflicted villages making a few "cheap" bucks at the
cost of the desperate situation of some car-owners - the (foolish rather
desperate at that point) car-owners were persuaded by them only, to go ahead
with their cars to the flooded path, and they will help them push the car to the
safe area in return of Rs. 200/. These are not the powerful guys, but some
"neighborhood boys" from our villages.
I wonder if this is their 'struggle to
survive', or just lack of moral power on their and of many in Assam (and some
other parts of India) now.
Anyway, I totally understand what you are saying.
I too am as frustrated but I think, like some over there, I too
am feeling like 'dubiboloi dhora maanuhe nol-khagori-ke xaabot maari dhore,
dubar pora bosaboloi'. Isn't there an Assamese proverb to that effect? Well, you
know what I mean!
Take care. I am still enjoying my part-time job
:) - being 'off' on certain weekdays is just wonderful. I have had enough,
but lets see how long it lasts. :)
>p.s : the net was dull the last couple of days
You can say that again. :)
With love and regards,
--A'Ba.
