In quest of peace and pizzazz---the 'Bib Laden' style
By Sibanu Borah, AssamLive.com

All of a sudden the Army chief's residence rattled. His
panic-stricken family members started screaming in the face of
this terrific situation. The army officer confirmed that it's an
explosion and again there is another strike. His US based
journalist son working with the New York Times also confirmed it
to be a terrorist attack. The World Trade Center under attack
forcing hundreds of army personnel and journalist to rush to the
spot.

This is more or less of what The Sankardev Theatre group staged at
Kujibali in Sivasagar district in its 'Bin Laden' on Tuesday,
which made hundreds of audience stuck to their seats till the wee
hours of Wednesday besides making an end to the month-long anxiety
the gripped the peoples' mind as to will the Government tolerate
Laden in the stage?

Prafulla Das, a senior teacher with a college said, "Bin Laden has
reached the stage not for fuelling terrorism but to bring the lost
peace and pizzazz back." Another academician and a social worker
said it has become possible only because of the talents of
Samarendra Barman whose script is skilfully woven.

Playing his role as Osama Bin Laden, Pranab Sarma hogged the
limelight to tell the tales of woes and sufferings of the local
Afghans at the hands of the Talibans more especially on the fair
sex.

The drama also made the packed 1500 audience spell bound by its
flawless choreography, heart-throbbing music, art and light
decoration. The arrangement of flights, clamour of the lakhs of
dumb millions and the deployment of army really made it a warlike
situation in the play.

The play concludes with the peoples' readiness to bid farewell to
arms. Fed up with the idea that terrorism is not the way, the
Afghanistan women spoiled the guns to spare the beautiful world
and journalist Parth's appeal to the people to shun the path of
violence which mesmerised the people.

The people who played were Pabitra Pran Bora, Bikash Bharadwaj,
Jita Saikia, Lakhi Baruah, Nilima Deka, Ushuf, Samarendra,
Baishali Dutta, Prabin Das, Bani Kanta Saikia, Lakhinath
Majumdar.
