people are talking about discussions between india-ulfa on issues like 'independence'.
NOBODY gave Ulfa the right to speak and negotiate on behalf of assamese people - not even the narrow base of hindu assamese who supply their cadre - I wont even dwell on how how they claim to represent the 100s of ethnic 'tribes'.
they have not even won a college election, because most have never seen the insides of a college. their ultra-violent leaders are averse to any negotiation and rumours say the founding father is a powerless figurehead now.
The only issues Ulfa can discuss with india govt:
- a surrender package
- financial incentives to either emigrate to bangaladesh/thailand or
come overground in india
- jobs for those who come overground
- in exchange pointing out what the ISI/Tabliqis are upto inside nepal and bangladesh
Ulfa for speak for themselves and give up this pretense they represent ANYONE ELSE.
and their expat supporters should find some other shoulder to cry on.
