Thanks for the link Ram .
It is the same article by Dr. Nayan Sharma, that Romen Goswami from UK sent us. I thought it was a good article and addresses important issues. I know I am one who, Kalidas like :-), go off on a limb one too many times and take on issues against the current of seemingly popular sentiments. River-linking has been one of them. I have been quite intrigued by the studied silence of Assam Netters on the subject. Is it disinterest, or is it a fear of climbing limbs, Kalidas fashion you think :-)? I would have thought this group of vocal and fearless netters would have been all over the Prabhu's paralogism about riverlinking like a cheap shawl :-). Assam's technocrats and intellectuals have been attempting, by and large, to be on both sides of the issue at the same time. I sent a letter to the editor of an unnamed :-) widely circulated English daily, challenging the opinions of one such piece. They considered printing it, but later decided not to. Since I suggested that it might be too long to print as a letter to the editor and if so I offered to re-write it as an article, they counter-proposed that.Which I did. But this time, even receipt of it was NOT acknowledged - twice. I suspect my views were way too strong for gentle kharkhowa ways :-). Anyway a fellow netter happened to forward some of these to an U S based Internet journal dealing with South Asian issues. They found it interesting and are going to publish it I was told. We will see if that happens. In the meantime, shgare some of your thoughts on the matter, would you? I am sure Assam would appreciate it. c-da At 6:31 PM -0500 9/29/03, Ram Sarangapani wrote: > Here are two ariticles on water resurces, I came across, while browsing >thru the Calcutta Statesman.
