Anjan:
Thanks you so much for mailing a personal copy of
the book to me.
Congratulations on your publication of such a heavy
stuff. Beautiful cover art, beutiful print from Taiwan, beutiful material. I bet
your father would have been so happy to see this. I mean to continue
the tradition of his scholarship of Indian history.
(For those who donot know, Anjan's father
Late R. M. Nath was an engineer by profession and who wrote
one of the most scholarly books on Assam's History tuitled "The Background
of the Assamese Culture").
It will take me time to read the book. I just
read the introduction and was surprised to note that it is E. M. Froster's 'A
Passage to India' which finally inspired you to write the book. You have
done a masterly work by uniting the themes of the Serpent Cult, Manasa in
Indian history and explaining the creation myth through various fables such
as those of Rudra-Siva-Parvati, Radha-Krishna, Savitri-Satyavana, Usha-Anirudha,
Behula-Lakshmindhara, Netai Dhubini and others and linking these to those of the
the Indus Valley, the Aryans, Hitties, Mitanni, Babylonians, the Vedas and
others. (Somewhere I read that 'Nath' itself was a cult on which I will have to
explore more). I am sure you have been able to cpature the mystery of the
'Continent of the Circie' like E.M.Forster;s book did. I am sure the book
will will give me joy for ever like your father;s book
did.
For the information of the readers, the book is
published by Lamper Enterprise, Taiwan whose e-mail address is listed as
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
I hope you would be able to make the book available
through Amazon.Com or the public.
Thanks and keep it up.
