Think of our largest and most volatile minority,the Muslims.Even a mere 12% of India's population is more than the aggregate of the population of 8 European countries.Can Hindus have a wand and have vanish such a multitude of people? Will international community let them? Can Vajpayee/Joshi/Singh be so brain-dead to envision it? Indian culture does not mean Hindu culture or worshipping Hindu gods.Idientification of a religion with a particular section of the earth's geography is different from identification of the culture of the particular section of the earth's geography.To be asked to respect the culture of their land does not by any stretch of imagination amount to suspecting one's patriotism.Some Americans hold Bethleham and Jerusalem as their holy land but these Americans do have their own individual American culture which they hold so dear to their heart.If followers of the Semitic religions,while considering Bethleham/Jerusalem and Mecca as their holy land are asked to adopt Indian culture as in case of Americans, that should not be confused with patriotism.If nationality and religion are so separable,how does one explain the Vatican City State? How does one explain the concept of Khilafat which instructs all Muslims to disregard all other loyalities and pay obeisance to Islam? How would anyone explain the fact that Catholicism instructs all Catholics to serve first and foremost,as God's representative on Earth,the Papacy of Vatican?
