Dillip da,
As President Lincoln once said, you can fool some of the people some of the time
and some of the people all the time, but not all of the people all of the time.
I am not going to go into the reasons why I'm saying this to you. But it should be
obvious to you. You have a right to publicize YOUR conference. This is a free country.
However, I do want to caution you that while you have this right, you need to do
so in a honest way. Should you continue to try and mislead (among other things, by
such seemingly, innocuous things as the use of capitalization of certain words), I will
feel obligated to expose your misrepresentations.
So, please do not make this any worse than the harm that has already been done.
Please be satisfied that you have gotten what you want and concentrate on holding
a good conference for yourself. Please do not try and spin it any other way. Because
even you may not be able to control what other worms come out of the can.
Hope you have a good conference (for yourself).

Dear netters,
In accordance with the mandate from the public in St. Louis, the 2004 convention is a Joint Convention. The Host Committee has made arrangements to hold a Joint Convention that will follow the format of the 1999 Houston convention. Commitment has already been made to the hotel for a room to hold ASAs general body meeting.
Though an email published in Assam-net claims to represent ASA and states that ASA will not participate in the 2004 convention, our invitation to ASA as an organization and to ASA members as individuals still stands and we will be delighted to host them in Austin. We are still the same hospitable bunch as we were in the 1999 Houston convention.
From the response we are getting from the community, this convention will see a large gathering including guests from the UK, the Middle East and Assam. Please come, one and all, to meet your friends and relatives. The substantial surplus from the 1999 convention was donated to AFNA (non-profit org) for charitable work and we plan to do the same again this year if we have a surplus. Your participation and donation will make it happen.
Dilip Deka, Dhiraj Goswami and Barada Sarma For the Host Committee, Assam Convention 2004
