Hi,
An Assamese female, MBA student studying at Delhi asked me to find out about PhD options at Harvard Business School.
I find that I could find about them more easily while I was in India, since I had more time to do web searches - rather than now, when they are all within a mile of me.
However, taking time off from my course readings I have been searching the http://pine.hbs.edu/external/atozListingShow.do?FAC=CUR_FAC&linkto=BIO
website --and find that there are so many Indian professors -even females -- about 20 I think here at the business school. A large number from IITs IIMs, a few ofcourse are home grown Indian American like Tarun Khanna (I gather from their BA degree's location -US or India).
I was wondering that despite such a sizable contingent - are they really planning to do anything for their friends and family(maybe they are doing that by helping them in their college searches in US or getting them jobs here or speaking on their behalf for college admissions and US scholarships)
But my query was whether the local guy in their family neighborhood in India has had any benefit from their being here (besides some sort of inspiration) or the local businesses -ofcourse many have written case studies of Indian coroporations - for the benefit of US businesses -who believe in Sun Tzu - that info is power -to down the enemy.
Howe many can really survive without the support of MNCs - on their own in business - even in US - leave alone tough business environment of India.
At the very least -- what have they done to make their family, city and country proud of them?
Umesh
