Which move Umesh?

This one--the one about the resentments, or:
The decision of the Cabinet Committee on Security of the Manmohan
Singh Government at the Centre to stop the construction of the
fencing in the Tripura and West Bengal sectors was enforced from
>yesterday.
This one, about the arbitrary Central Govt. move?
I support the former and not the latter.
But having said that, I will also go on to reject the notion that
this is merely a Congress Ministry problem. It is the same with
anybody else, including the NDA and BJP. This latter group merely
EXPLOITS the situation, but they too are incapable of delivering
anything as we saw earlier. Besides their intentions/reasons are not
honorable--they are religion specific and they promote religious
intolerance. The reason is what most people willing to understand the
issues do: That it is the fractured Indian polity that cannot come
together ( of course with good reasons) to the right things, including
major and thorough governmental reforms, and its version of democracy
that we so well know is a crying need.

Decision to stop border fencing draws flak
By a Staff ReporterGUWAHATI, March 19: There is resentment in the social and political
circles of the State over the Union Government's decision to stopthe construction of the fencing along the Indo-Bangladesh border. The decision of the Cabinet Committee on Security of the Manmohan
Singh Government at the Centre to stop the construction of the
fencing in the Tripura and West Bengal sectors was enforced fromyesterday.
Reacting sharply, most political parties in the State criticized the
Union Government over its decision and expressed the apprehension
that it might help the infiltrators to c! ross over the porous border.
AGP general secretary Hitendra Nath Goswami said that it was the
duty of the Centre to stop the unabated influx from neighbouring
Bangladesh. "The Centre could not seal the border in the past 20
years. The present Union Government's decision to stop border work
will open the floodgates to illegal migrants and encourage them to
cross over," he said and added that it was one more act of betrayal
of the interests of Assam and the North-east by New Delhi. Before
taking such a decision, which is also related to the integrity and
security of the country, the Centre should have discussed the matter
with the Chief Ministers and Home Ministers of the north-eastern
States, he said.
North East Students' Organization (NESO) president Dr Samujjal
Bhattacharya termed the Centre's decision to cease fencing work as a
'silent attack' on the North-east. "The Indo-Pak border fencing was
completed within two y! ears. But the fencing along the Bangladesh
border is not complete even after more than 20 years," he said as he
demanded the Centre to complete the border fencing as per the Assam
Accord.
BJP vice president Dhruba Prasad Baishya said that the decision
amounted to the surrender of India to Bangladesh. Lakhs of
Bangladeshis have been infiltrating into the State over the years,
but nothing has been done by the Centre, he said and added that the
Centre had compromised on the security of the country by taking such
a decision.
