BAN ON GAMWSA IMPORT:

I have heard that there has been a ban on import of GAMWSA from outside of Assam. Till I heard this news I did not know that GAMWSA was being imnported from outide of Assam. Aparently the market of Assam are being flooded with imported GAMWSA from outdide the state.

But the above news on ban on the import brings couple of interesting questions to the front.

If Assamese cultural items like Gamwsa, Riha, Mekhela, Japi and others are being supplied from outside of at a competitive rate to Assam, is it good or bad for Assam? Should we ban on import for such items? Does it do any good for the Assamese consumer or the Assamese culture?

My first impression is that if we can import all our food grains, chicken eggs and Row fish from outside of Assam, what is wrong in importing these cultural items. How long 'litikai' Assamese will try to preserve its culture by banning the import of these items from outsdide. Or is the right approach to preserve the culture?

I hope some netters will enlighten on the news and comment.
