Are these people from Bangladesh? If they are, what is the GogoiGovt. doing
forming alliances with political parties from across theborder?

Save Assam Sir, – The State president of Indian Union of Muslim League,
FaiznurAli declared that their party would contest from Guwahati,
Barpeta,Dhubri, Nagaon and Karimganj constituencies in the next
Assemblyelections. Before the last general election, the Congress(I)
candidatefor Barpeta Lok Sabha constituency AF Golam Osmani made it very
clearthat though APCC's minority cell is with the Congress but it is notbound
to obey the Congress and can scrap its ties with the Congress atthe command of
Jamiat. On April 3 last, Jamiat chief Maulana AsadMadani, an outsider from
Assam gave Tarun Gogoi-led Congress(I)Government a six month deadline demanding
that the government shouldissue land pattas to the people living in rivering
areas andcitizenship certificates to his people migrated to Assam, otherwise
herevealed his intention to topple the Gogoi government.
Is it imperative to bow down to such demands by the Congress or theAGP, which
will simply help formation of Islamic State in the NorthEast? At present the
Congress is having 13 MLAs and the AGP is having4 MLAs and along with 9 other
supported MLAs there are 26 MLAs who arethe followers of Jamiat. Is it
impossible on the part of theCongress(I) or the AGP to come to an
understanding, even keeping theirseparate identity intact, to give a good-bye
to those followers ofJamiat in the coming elections and thereby save Assam from
being anIslamic State? – Yours etc, SC NATHRAJAN, Dispur, Guwahati.
