Movie: Boyz N the Hood 1991
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0101507/
Plot Outline: Saga of a group of childhood friends growing up in a Los Angeles ghetto

ABout a "Black" or African American neighborhood - boy grows up thanks to his parents -- the real upright way --in the real tough Harlem style neighborhood"

Though I didn't like the first line in the movie" Out of 21 Black male kids one will be murdered in his lifetime: and the next one "most likely he would be murdered by another black man"

I remembered the note Professor Reimers put on my piece of Mexico's policy reforms -- u forgot to put Gridle's argument even if the kind of leadership makes us predict policy failure skilled executives can still make the reform work -or something like that.

So if in 1991 , the rate of murder is such - it does not mean that a kid cannot expect the situation to improve - the line should have read -- it is likely --blah blah blah"

Nonetheless, the movie is real good - portrays the tough corrupted life in the ghetto -- and shows a way out. All Black couples, catholic virgin girls amidst free sex, STD carrying ones too, hard working college going SAT taking guys amidst gun totting beer swilling guys. Parenst teaching kids sex education so that -- ther genitals do not fall off (due to STD)...

I do not see the phoren-return Indian film makers making on such a theme --why not on a Dalit couple doing good in life - for a change -through education and hard work --even on a Dalit Christian one - for that matter.

Why not keep it straight, sincere and simple - and not make fun of the people -for a change?
