However, dredging is only ONE of a series of measures that is necessary, which the experts obviously don't agree on.
The same experts also recommends raising the embankments. I hope Dinesh Mishra's expose on the Kosi river embankment raising decision making process raised some awareness on the high engineering techniques employed by the experts.
Furthermore the same experts also recommends damming all the major tributaries of the Brahmaputra and the Barak.
Now if we sit back and look at the whole picture, it ought to give some ideas about the mind-set,their ability to learn from past experiences and thus the overall expertise of the experts.
Can we feel at ease now about Assam's flood relief and abatement?
I would submit, only the utterly incorrigible and mired in naivete would.
