I had been making inquiries about the conflict in Sudan --from people who are ARAB muslim themselves -right here at Harvard.
I got the impression that it is all about oil resources deep underground - in the Darfur region. Oil pipelines are already under construction. The local landlords (tribals) do not want to vacate the region, without getting compensation through the roof (in India all minerla wealth if found on your land --is govt proeprty).
So I think if the locals can be convinced to leave -with some appropriate compensation -- I think killings can stop. Ofcourse vested interests would like to act as judges so that they can get the rights to the oil.
