We have photographed/digitized about 20 books with about 5000 pages over
the past few years. We are working with Kuruwabahi Xotro near Bokakhat to
digitize all their manuscripts (about 70 books).
The project is supported by Assam Society of America. A digital camera was
donated for the effort by Samar Gogoi of Omaha a year and a half ago for
the purpose. Dr. Naren Kalita of Nagaon (eminent expert on illustrated
manuscripts), Babul Gogoi (of Guwahati and Delhi), Utpal Baruah (of
ubphotos.com), Prabodh Nath (Nagaon, Electrical Engineer) and several
others are involved in this effort.
If is possible for us to put up all or a selected number of pages on the
Web. However, we don't have the money to put up thousands of images. If
anyone wants to help financially or otherwise, we can keep the project
moving and accelerate its pace.
Please look at http://pikespeak.uccs.edu/~kalita/Asomi2003/index.html for
some example pages.

you may remember from earlier discussions, there was an attempt to
digitize some Assamese manuscripts also. Since the Assam bureaucrats did
not want to take the lead, may be they can follow now.
