I just read this article on Indian schooling and how argument is made that since in USA a student is allowed to take easer math courses - it is good enough for India as well. Such half baked arguments reveal the slave mentality of a large number of Indian parents and educators -who belive that whatever happens in USA is best.
Be it --school sex or easier courses. Little do they know that US educators are very worried that US students are routinely landing at the bottom of the scorers in international Math and Science and Language tests like TIMSS or PISA --and finding that the West European or Singaporean system where all students have to study subjects having the same level
of difficulty ---have been scoring much higher. Singapore is always on the top.

PS: However, In NYC I was surprised to hear a visitng Indian couple say that US schools are worse than Indian ones - but that US colleges were better. They didn't know that inner city schools (where they were located) were worse off thatn those in richer suburbs since --each neighborhood has a different school budget depending upon its residents income levels
