Hi,
I just paid $195 for getting a handkerchief - though I had initially planned to buy a lap top for $300 in sale.
This was the largest amount of single payment I made after I came to USA. I made it to get a handerchief out of the bath tub piping where it had got stuck ater I was washing clothes therein - and not using the washing machine which I did not know how to operate.
This was my hostage crisis which happened this thursday. I really got my first exposure to costs in US - it could easily have escaleted to over two thusand dollars (nearly all my savings) if the loth had gone futher down.
Now I am raring to get a job and get a good US salary. Earlier I felt guilty of asking for salaries which would be over the roof in India rupees - but I realise are peanuts and not enough in case of an emergency in US or if getting married here or rasing a family.
I learnt a lot from this money saving expense _ spent more than all LaundromAt expenses I would have made if I had used it for the whole year.
Bill Clinton's $200 haircut made headlines but my paying the same amount for a one minute work wouldn't .
Any ideas?

PS: My landlord having 4 houses has himslef become a tenant in Virginia sharing room with two other software engineers - for $300 per month each. They all sleep on the floor. Am taking him to a birthday party next friday of a South Indian senior (girl) brithday party. He is a bachelor from Kerala.
