Hi,

While returning from my visit to Worlkd Bank HQ on H and I streets NW - towards Martin Luther King DC Public library at China Town on G street - I happened to see a strange spectacle in a park on H street - which somehow reminded me of Punjab. Lots of Sikhs in flowing beards and saffron clothes and speaking on a loud speaker in Punjabi were gathered there. After getting closer  I realized that they were no some religious people gathered there to do Kar Sewa (self service - volunteer work) as they do at HemKund Sahib in Himalayas -- but they carried large saffron flags - with Khalistan printed on them.

Their beligerance increased - with the leader shouting out loud -- much to the alarm of passersby - balck and white both -- with questions like " Who is a terrorist??"

Ofcourse they branded current Congress as no different from the one which allegedly killed 4000 Sikhs in Delhi etc in 1984 -- current PM  ManMohan notwithstanding - a Sikh today in DC.

They should have heeded the advice of my room mates father and my landlord -- that brownskinned guys should talk about anything except terrorism - while in the West. Sikhs with their beards are killed about 2 per year - in the west -  as my room mate briefed me - since they are mistaken for Taliban.

However, their current beligerance in the DC park did make them seem like terrorists or their sympathizers - and I thought that Sikhs were the real street smart guys!! Seems some of the Sikh brethren are determined to make life even more difficult for all Sikhs. I do admire the Sikhs for their determination  to uphold their faith despite increasing hostility in faraway lands.
