Bhuban-da,
The point was that Suadi Arabia's income level is now down to that of a semi developed nation only -- in coming years it may come down to the level of Bangladesh etc -- becos these guys are behaving like the erstwhile farmers of Delhi region who sold of their land at huge prices to developers and instead of investing the money wisely spent it in buying Mercedes cars and visiting whores etc. Same as Saudis are doing with their oil.

Statistics sometime do not represent reality. In connection with the migrant issue, one Minister of Bangladesh was reported to have exclaimed: There is no immigrant from Bangladesh to India. Bangladesh's economy was better than that of India; why should Bangladeshis migrate to India? I raised this point in a letter to Assam net but I had no response. However later I found the required information which confirmed the Minister's boast, that is Bangladesh's GDP is higher than that of India. A Bengali weekly published in UK reported that the sum of all British aid received by Bangladesh was less than the sum of export taxes paid by the traders to Britain. It is a fact that in view of the excellent trade between Bangladesh and UK, one Bangladeshi Briton was appointed the Vice-Chairman of the prestigious Confederation of British Industry (CBI).In any case I do not think the Saudis are as poor as the people of Bangladesh. They have invested heavily in foreign countries and the expatriate community does live here with every sign of wealth..There are possibly a million or more Bangladeshsi people abroad whose regular remittances home are substantial. This definitely boosts their economy.Bhuban
