Yes, when I cite a document on wikipedia I prefer to provide a URL that the 
reader can just click on to download or view.

True.  I just logged in with my IBM ID which is an email address
which has been invalid since 2004.

However I believe Shmuel edits wikis and does not wish to burden
readers with a portfolio of IDs.
