Perl 5.8.8, using windows, re-installed just a few months ago so it's an
updated version, and yes, it worked with older zlib. The problem appeared
only after upgrading. And it was a clean update. I stopped assp service, ppm
updated modules and reboot. Even tried a few times to enable/disable
compression, so the problem is consistent. At least in my setup.

I will do the zlib downgrade tests later this week, proobably tomorrow. But
I see on cpan that the latest version is 2.011 but the ppm module I got is
2.008 so I'll check that first. Maybe the problem is already solved with the
new version.
