Over the past couple of weeks spam has both increased in volume <> and it appears to have changed its character a little (given the spam that I've seen get through ASSP in that time). At the same time, ASSP has for the first time in three years suddenly become deaf to SMTP mail from my users (they called wondering why they could not send mail). The web interface remains alive, but ASSP simply will not accept mail from either my users or other mail into the server.experienced the same with "1.4.5 RC0" (and also with the newer releases on iDisk); apparently some emails or some conditions seem to trigger a crash; ASSP first stops responding and then in a while, crashes; not sure what's causing such an issue, but I think it's something which will need further investigation; at the moment, my suggestion is to turn on the "debugging" feature and keep an eye on the debug log to spot any "sign" (and report them here) apparently (at least at a first check) it seems to be something related to "idle hosts" but, again, I'm not 100% sure about that
I've also experienced this, but with version 2. An email will come in and crash Perl. Have to restart ASSP. Everything works fine for a while until the sender of the problem email tries to send it again. The only way around the problem is to enter the sender's IP into denySMTPConnectionsFrom.
The emails are not always spam (although most are). James.
