IO::Socket::SSL cares it self to use nonblocking mode if it is needed (only the latest builds !!!!!) - depending on installed OpenSSL or any other APP that includes any version of ssleay librarys you can get problems with SSL on windows. I'm running the latest ActiveState 5.10 build and the latest SSL and SSLeay modules , the latest OpenSSL and I've no problem with any SSL (SMTP - HTTPS - LDAPS) on Windows 2003 SP2 (all available patches installed).
