First, the logs themselves look fine, so this isn't a logging issue. It's an issue with the searching I believe.
A block report showed a message "New External Activity - Ref No. 12144" as being erroneously rejected. No big deal. I searched the logs for the subject "New External" in order to find and resend the message and move it to corrected not spam. This is searching for mail from yesterday, so log file #2. I was shocked when I saw these log lines. The 3rd line is where the file was linked from, but the rest of the line is another mesage. After the -> of the first line is where I'd expect to see the file name linked. It's just blank, or a space actually. In the log file itself, the file name does appear there, and for the 3rd line, the correct filename does appear. It's consistent with what I'm seeing, it's not an html error. The code that displays the first line ends with: No. 12144 ] -> ; </div> Several lines down in the html, I do see msg 42108-13829 with the code to show the file name from message 42100-07078. If instead of searching for "New External," I search for "external," I get the exact same results. If however, I search for "12144" (from the message subject too), the results are still wrong, but the file is displayed with a different message: Oct-22-09 15:37:24 msg40243-02970 [MessageOK] 13.5.7.7 <[email protected]> to: [email protected] message ok [something else] -> messages/discarded/New_External_Activity_-_Ref_No._12144--35242.txt It seems that searching for any text before the dash in the subject puts the file on one specific line, and searching for anything after the dash puts it on another. Turning highlighting is on or off and/or searching for files only causes the same errors. Searching the last 2 log files instead of just log #2 makes no difference. BUT!! If I uncheck show context lines it works normally - the file appears on the right line. If I search for something other than the subject, then the file name appears on the correct line, even when showing context lines. I have searched for other subjects in this log file #2 and it's fine. Could this be something strange with the way that ASSP is determining where a file name starts, with subject logging on, and when the search string is contained in the file name? Puzzling. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Come build with us!
