I implemented fail2ban because of dumb Botnets that constantly try to relay through my server, 100k's of failed attempts a day. The PenaltyBoxExtreme went some way to quench the bombardment but still consumed connections and flooded the logs with detritus.
I have documented my assp/fail2ban setup at: http://www.maxlyth.com/?p=118 Hope this helps and all comments and suggestions gratefully accepted. ------ Max Lyth 18 Grove Mews, London W6 7HS, UK Tel: +44 20 8741 8040 Mob: +44 777 44 222 40 http://www.maxlyth.com On 1 Sep 2010, at 13:29, Andrew Porter wrote: > On 31/08/10 16:48, Charles Marcus wrote: >> That's why I prefer to do it in the firewall with fail2ban. > Are you setting fail2ban to monitor the ASSP log ?
