Oh Steve,

>Any idea what setting in ASSP is doing this??

 No - idea :)

- no version number
- no loglines
.....
You'll need a visonary :)

Switch on 'replyLogging'.
Try to find out the '500 Non RFC-compliant response' in the exchange logs.

Betreff: [Assp-test] 500 Non RFC-compliant response received

I manage 2 ASSP servers. Just recently, yesterday in fact I started
getting these error messages from both sites....the mail however, gets
delivered...

There was a SMTP communication problem with the recipient's
email server. Please contact your system administrator.
            <exchange.***.com #5.5.0 smtp;500 Non RFC-compliant response
received>

I took assp out of the sending loop for 2 hours and the error messages
stopped. Any idea what setting in ASSP is doing this??

ASSP V2 on Win2K8R2 IIS6
Exchange 2003 at one site, Exchange 2010 at the other.

Thanks
Steve
