Trevor is running V2 on (as single exception - darwin) Perl 5.8.8 - I'm
unable to test this - nor I'm able to reproduce the behavior with Perl
5.10.1.

This is not possible. ASSP is based on an OS (which is not perfect) +Perl
(which is not perfect) + several modules (which are not perfect) + assp.pl
is not perfect.
And don't forget - the spammers are smart - some times they find bugs
faster than we.
So from time to time it could be possible, that the system is running in
to a condition which cause an unexpected exception - for such reason the
auto restart features for workers and assp are implemented.
I never saw assp die on any system because of a mail content for the last
months.
And IMHO: it is some times better to accept some spam (1-2 a day), than
tuning regexes every day

Better than swatting at mosquitoes, why not get copies of these message
to Thomas/Fritz asap so they can fix the ASSP bug that causes it to
choke on them?
ASSP should NOT choke on ANY message - if it does, it is a bug, pure and
simple.
