I've tried using the assp wiki and its
http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/assp/index.php?title=LDAP_Setup page to
set up LDAP, and I can't seem to get it to check local addresses in the
recipient field. Unfortunately, the log for OD/LDAP is not detailed on this
machine. I found Geoff Varney's post at
http://www.mail-archive.com/assp-user@lists.sourceforge.net/msg07517.html and
this post from a mail discussion board:
http://forum.mailenable.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=20056

Problem is that no matter which inferences I take from all of them to put data
into assp settings, LDAP does not seem to do anything other than check the
LDAPShowDB list. In the LDAP log, I can't see any evidence of assp even trying
to query LDAP. In the assp log, it seems that only the sender's domain is
'checked' for LDAP, which I believe is not what we want to do; we want to check
the recipient's name and domain.

It would be SO useful if the wiki had any practical examples of setups in the
link from our assp admin page:
http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/assp/index.php?title=LDAP

If one uses the "Configuration Reference" in the wiki, clicks to the second
page of subjects, and then clicks LDAP, each of the resulting links arrives a a
completely empty page, so that route is not helpful, either. :-/

I suspect it would be REALLY useful if working example set ups for M$ AD, Apple
OD, and, say, a Linux installation were presented at the bottom of
http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/assp/index.php?title=LDAP

Here's one of the configurations I've tried:

LDAP Host: mail.mydomain.com|localhost
(my e-mail server's LDAP, which happens to be the localhost)
LDAPLogin: cn=myadminloginname,cn=Users,dc=mail,dc=mydomain,dc=com
(I've no idea of the 'Users' part is needed, here)
LDAPPassword: password
LDAP Version: 3

LDAP Root container for Local Domains: DOMAIN
(DOMAIN seemed to be the most useful text entry, given the set up
description in assp's admin area)
LDAP Filter for Local Domains: DOMAIN
(DOMAIN seemed to be the most useful text entry, given the set up
description in assp's admin area)
LDAP Root container for Local Addresses: DOMAIN
(DOMAIN seemed to be the most useful text entry, given the set up
description in assp's admin area)
LDAP Filter for Local Addresses:
(|(mail=EMAILADDRESS)(mailaddress=EMAILADDRESS)) (I used the example given the
set up description in assp's admin area)

The remaining settings are at default, except LDAPFail, which is on, per the
requirement noted in LDAPRoot.

Net::LDAP installed is higher than assp 2.1.2 requires.

I've tried replacing DOMAIN with the suggestions in the two posts noted above,
but to no avail. :-/

Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

Trevor.
