This is not a 'search box' - it is the 'toggle view' button. If you don't want it, remove it modifying the assp/lib/BlockReport/modify.pm.
It works perfect in all my mail clients including mobile phones - one exception is the Lotus Notes client, which does not support some required JavaScript functions.
