Again, in an effort to more easily review emails, I'm wondering if there's
any virtue to splitting up the discarded folder (giving more collecting
folders).

What about having subfolders of discarded for folders for messages that
would ordinarily go to discarded for:
1) Redlisted messages
2) Messages tagged as spam, but passing

Similarly, add a subfolder to okmail for those that passed due to no
processing?

Sure, it might complicate things for new users, but they could just put
everything to discarded if they want.
