I have about 4million HMM records, startup was 2-3 minutes, but ASSP is on Windows, in a VM, on a not so new (but new to the charity) host.... Whatever SQL you simplified has it at a couple seconds now! Terrific.
On the new SSL error/warnings, I'll open a thread to discuss in case it's something more than just new warnings. I'm seeing bad file descriptor log lines.
