    Yes, that's certainly a drawback. But I just migrated to a new bigger 
server, and I installed a fresh ASSP. Until it probes everything is ok, I 
will let my users access directly the MTA. Perhaps in a month I will change 
to the setup you mention.

    So, in short, there is no way for ASSP to recognize the MTA from the 
remote IP and avoid the HELO forgery check.
    Also the email interface address is checked after the relay is checked, 
so if that fails, the email will not be processed.

    Those were the answers I was looking for, thanks!
    I guess the users will have to live without the email interface then...
