I'm a little confused about the different enabling options for features. Specifically, I'm not entirely sure what the different values trigger in terms of the action(s) that ASSP takes.
Many options use the following parameters for enabling (example: validate Helos): 0 = deactivate, 1 = activate, 2 = log only, 3 = score only. Values 0 & 1 I think are pretty straightforward: 0: Option is completely disabled. Nothing happens 1: Option is enabled. If the test fails, the email is rejected. It's values 2 & 3 that confuse me. 2: only indicate in the log that the test would have failed. Email is allowed through. Does this mean that it is also logged as a header in the email as well? What about the stats, are they updated when set to 2 as well? 3: score the value for use in the Penalty Box? Email is not rejected based on this failure. If the IP's score total (of all tests) is high enough, then email gets rejected based on PB rules/settings. Is a header still added to the email? Are the stats also updated? Then, to make things that much more confusing, the PB also has those settings: Penalize Bad IP's : If activated, bad behaving IP's will be send to the Penalty Box. So... 1) What happens if the PB is disabled and other settings are set to 3. Is that equivalent of the other tests being disabled? Since they would be scoring for the PB, but the PB is disabled, so in essence, all other tests set to score only end up doing nothing. 2) How can the PB itself be set to score only? If the score only means that the test's score is calculated for use in the PB, how can the PB itself just score? What would the difference between log only and score only be in this respect? I would expect that log only would mean that there would be a log entry with the total PB value. I have no idea what that entry would show for score only. Furthermore, does score-only also mean log entries (both in the log file and a message header)? I'm not sure if this is clear or not. If not, please let me know an I'll try to clarify better. As you can see, I'm a little confused as it is. :) Thanks! Eric ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys. Earn Cash.
