I'm not sure what country you are in.  In Britain we've been having 
discussions on the media about scientists and engineers being unable to 
communicate effectively with the non-specialist media (and hence the 
public) who are for the purposes of this discussion innumerate.

The worst case is as bad as you can think of, but the probability is 
extremely low.  The best case is that it is totally invulnerable.  Again 
the probability is low.

What we have is a much-reviewed piece of code.  It has none of the 
vulnerabilities that are "well known."  so to that extent is reasonable to 
run.  You can still configure it to completely destroy your mail system. 
If you try hard enough you can make it into an indirect relay, you can open 
the configuration interface to the world...

All one can say is that if used as intended, the effects are beneficial, vs 
tobacco, where the effects in general are harmful.  :-)
