Yes.  How  could the sending client know to send your mail to assp and
not  directly  to  your  mailserver?  If  you  install  ASSP  and your
mailserver on the same machine, you don't have to change MX-records.

The  best  way is to put ASSP on the same machine as your Mail-server.
Just   change  the  Port of you mailserver from 25 to eg. 125, install
ASSP and configure it.

If  you  decide  to put it on different servers, you don't need any mail
server  on  the  ASSP  Machine.  As  ASSP  is a proxy, it will connect
directly to your recieving Mail Server.
