I can count on one hand the number of domains I've seen that support 
domain literals. Even the dnsreport.com site lists is as "INFO" and not 
a "PASS/FAIL".
If you'll take a look at rfc1123 you'll see it was drafted in 1989, the 
internet and the way people use email has changed drastically since 
then, I personally haven't seen it supported on any system i admin 
(mostly since they are all Exchange) and it hasn't been an issue.

And personally if someone is reporting problems with my mailserver it's 
not in email form, it's usually something like this in the form of a 
phone call, 
4amOMGTheMailServerIsDownAndICan'tForwardThisAuesomeEmailFIXIT!!!111one1!.

I swear email is like crack to people these days. (YAY job security!)
