I'm still having trouble understanding how to set up ASSP with Groupwise
properly. Below is the configuration I have. I'm guessing someone will see
the problem from there. What I'm experiencing is that incoming mail goes
through ASSP and to Groupwise fine. Outgoing mail returns an error in
Groupwise of "Send Failure: 530 Relaying not allowed".

We have two machines, a firewall (SuSE Enterprise 9) and a Netware 6.5 server
(running Groupwise 7). The firewall server is the router for ALL Internet
traffic. ASSP has been placed on the firewall machine.

The firewall machine uses the following network configuration in routing.

192.168.1.3 -> Internal network
10.1.1.2 -> External network (to simple dlink modem/router - considered as WAN)

The Netware server uses the IP address 192.168.1.1

The ASSP configuration I've done is the following:

ASSP Primary listening: 10.1.1.2:25
ASSP Primary destination: 192.168.1.1:25
ASSP Secondary listening: 192.168.1.3:25
ASSP Secondary destination: 127.0.0.1:25

Groupwise GWIA config:
Relay host is set to: 192.168.1.3

I'm new to all this so I'm sure it is something simple.

Thanks,
Seth

Seth,

I have two sites using ASSP and Groupwise 7. I have not had any issues on
Linux. NetWare and Windows will both run perl, so assp will nun. I do know
that ASSP will not demonize on NetWare and will need to be added to the
AUTOEXEC.NCF. (perl SYS:\ASSP\assp.pl). I have not had any luck getting the
web interface to work on NetWare, and have been forced to configure via config
files.

First, you will need to edit /etc/services and change the port entry for SMTP
to something other than 25 (like 225) This will cause GWIA to bind to port 25
on all IP addresses. I then edited the GWIA properties (either using C1 or
gwia.cfg) to lock the binding to just the interface IP. You could bind it to
localhost, but telneting to the port helps in troubleshooting.

Set ASSP to listen to incoming connections on the interface IP port 25 and pass
to interface IP port 225. ASSP outbound is listening on localhost:25. GWIA's
outbound mailhost setting does not support the addition of the port, only the
IP/DNS address. I entered 127.0.0.1 as my outbound relay host. Again, this
can be done in ConsoleOne or your gwia.cfg

this is how an `lsof -i -n -p` should look on linux.

Has anyone on this list used Groupwise with ASSP? Which setting would I have
to change to get Groupwise to communicate with ASSP instead of directly with
the Internet for outgoing mail?

Thanks,
Seth
