ASSP doesn't deal with the files themselves like most spam filters which integrate with the MTA. It filters it based on the data stream as it's being sent to the MTA. If it had to stop and save each message to disk, extract the pdf, analyze it, then deliver it if it passes.....it would just be slower than a snail stuck in molasses in the arctic, and it would'nt work.
