ASSP has got nothing to do with webmail or imap. It's a proxy  between 
the sending MTA and the receiving MTA. It doesn't care even if you'd use 
IP over Avian Carriers 
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_over_Avian_Carriers) to deliver the 
email to its final destination.

You can configure your webmail or imap as if there was no ASSP. Webmail 
most likely needs the address/port of the imap daemon. Imap doesn't need 
anything (it doesn't care at all which MTA you use or which webmail 
setup, or spamfiltering), it will just (at least in uw-imapd's case, 
most imap daemons work in a similar way) take mail from /var/mail and 
dump it in the user's home directory, their MUA (email client) will 
connect to imap's port and talk to it.
