Ok, I have to ask....what is a donkey's age anyway? I mean a newborn
donkey could be only minutes old. Or a mature donkey could be decades.
Honestly, that's rather a vague timeframe. Should we begin measuring
process runtime by solar and lunar cycles now? Eons? Yes, this process
has run for 4.3*10^-42 eons now...is that too long? :-)

Subject: [Assp-user] rebuildspamdb.pl script running for donkeys' ages

Hello people,

I have an issue with an ASSP v1.2.6 on a Pentium Celeron
box with 512Mb of RAM and Slackware Linux v9.0 (i386).

It's been running "rebuildspamdb.pl" for much too long and it makes
the machine behave very slow.

Any ideas ? I don't know what causes this . Some data :

/usr/local/assp/spam : 252,097 messages (as spam)
/usr/local/assp/notspam : 26,401 messages (as ham)

ps ax gives :

Aaaargh ! I don't believe it ! It stopped now ! I was thinking of
posting this a couple of hours ago but I forgot! Since then it stopped!
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Anyway : ps ax gave something like 72 hours.
Since the machine is pretty old (slack v9.0/i386), I am seriously
thinking of re-installing but it would be nice not to :-)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

TIA,

s.
