The best way to start working with ASSP is to: "Use Subject as Maillog Names" You can turn this on to help you to identify mail in your spam and non-spam collections. This will prevent ASSP from controlling the number of files in your collections( MaxFiles ). If your collections grow over 1000 items run move2num.pl and turn this off. The spam and non-spam collections are only intended for use by ASSP to build the bayesian database. I don't know about you, but I can figure out most spam emails just from the subject. The ones that you're not sure about, you can open with Outlook Express or other email app. If an email is in the SPAM folder and is not spam, simply move it to the NOTSPAM folder and vice-versa. But you should only do this when you're training your database. Once you've got a good number of items in both folders and ASSP is making good decisions, start using the errors/spam and errors/notspam folders. You use these by forwarding incorrectly classified emails to the ASSP Interface (ie: If it should be spam, but wasn't detected as such, forward the email to assps...@assp.local and vice-versa for notassps...@assp.local). Doing this will populate the errors folders and allow ASSP to make better judgements in the future.
