Can you maybe copy all of C:\assp\spam to C:\assp\spam-testing. Now copy rebuildspamdb script and adjust to point to to testing folder. Also adjust to not alter your existing corpus. Or just store a backup copy of the corpus results file.
Move out all files from the testing directory and run, it should run clean. Move a small batch of aproximately 10 back in and run. Repeat this process until you find the message causing the hang. Delete that message from your live area, save copies and post results back here. This is the only way I know for you to narrow the problem down. You don't want to start over, as this would never get solved and fixed correctly for the long term. It may be worth starting with moving in batches by size; start with the smallest file sizes first.
