Spambuckets are e-mail addresses purposely used to receive spam these could be e-mail address of former employees or e-mails placed on websites for bots to harvest. This helps add to the word and phrase collections to build ASSP's corpus. I once had a problem with spam e-mails getting past ASSP and even my spamassassin running at the mail server. These were messages with a few sentences and link. They where all coming from free e-mail domains particularly hotmail. Once I enabled URIBL, the problem stopped.
If you train users to keep on submitting spam messages with image spam eventually bayesian filter will stop them. By using combinations of Bayesian, Spambuckets, DSNBL and URIBL, ASSP will greatly reduce spam messages from getting through. I'm not sure about plugins but that's the beauty of open source no one will stop you from adding your own modifications. __________________ Joe Aldeguer Systems Administrator Society of American Florists 1601 Duke Street, Alexandria, VA 22314 p. 703-836-8700 f. 703-836-8705 Visit us at http://www.safnow.org At Thursday, 04/22/2010 on 19:01 "Dale" wrote: Hi I'm not clear on the spam filtering It appears ASSP uses Bayesian, Spambuckets, DSNBL and URIBL Is there more options? Currently we use a highly customized Spam Assassin with our own rulesets, can we do something similarly with ASSP spam filtering? Can we add a plug in that uses something like Message Sniffer? I like a lot of the functionality of training messages from a user and administrators perspective but I'm concerned about image spam and some content spam getting through. I believe any one of our mail servers generate enough email over the course of a week to train the Bayesian filter but spam evolves and I'm concerned about preventing this.
