I am trying to troubleshoot a problem wherein ASSP stops responding to SMTP requests - that is, a user will be unable to send a message from their mail client. The mail client (Apple Mail) will report a problem with making an SSL connection to the SMTP server. The same combination of credentials and Mail client will work from another location (IP address). A restart of ASSP will always solve the problem. After restart, the problem will appear again in 1-2 days time.
When the problem is occurring, and the user is unable to connect to the SMTP server, the following messages will appear in the mail log: Dec 5 13:14:30 mail postfix/smtpd[15788]: lost connection after UNKNOWN frommail.mydomain.com[66.228.45.51] Dec 5 13:14:30 mail postfix/smtpd[15788]: disconnect from mail.mydomain.com[66.228.45.51] Dec 5 13:14:36 mail postfix/smtpd[15896]: lost connection after EHLO frommail.mydomain.com[66.228.45.51] Dec 5 13:14:36 mail postfix/smtpd[15896]: disconnect from mail.mydomain.com[66.228.45.51] Can anyone suggest what the problem might be?
