Hi Fritz,

I did that temporarily but started getting false positives so I set it back.
Not sure why that is, spot checks on the spam and notspam folders show that
the messages are being classified correctly. RebuildSpamDB is the latest
version and appears to be running correctly as evidenced by the timestamps
on spamdb, spamdb.helo, and even rebuildrun.txt, although rebuildrun.txt is
empty despite permissions being set correctly.

Many of the false positives appear to score zero for the confidence but they
still score the full amount of baysValencePB or close to it. The whole
Bayesian confidence mechanism makes no sense to me, if the two were
multiplied or the confidence value was subtracted when confidence was low
then that would seem to be more effective. Why would you penalize a message
by the full value of baysValencePB when you have zero confidence that it's
spam? I'll admit that I've never been that impressed with ASSP's Bayesian
functionality despite the fact that in every other respect nothing I've seen
approaches the effectiveness of ASSP. The best Bayesian filter I've
encountered is SpamBayes, another open-source project. I've often wished
that ASSP would integrate SpamBayes for its Bayesian filtering but I
digress.

I'll do some additional spot-checking on the Bayesian folders to see if I
can find mis-classified messages but I doubt that's the problem since ASSP
has been extremely accurate in classifying messages so far. False-positives
have pretty much always been due to a problem at the sender's end and almost
zero spam got through before the spammers started pulling the no DNS
response trick. It's strange to see spam making it into my inbox again.
