We found another issue on Solaris 11/B145/AMD64/64bit in
ast-ksh.2012-09-27 when various test modules "randomly" fail...
.... after some digging I found this reduced testcase...

print OK
EOF
} | out=$( ${SHELL} 2>&1 )
printf '%q\n' "$out"

... AFAIK it should print 'OK' ... but ast-ksh.2012-09-27 prints an
empty string...
